Marcel Kunkel
Marcel Kunkel was born in Rathenow Germany. From an early age his main interests have been in music, piano playing and sound engineering. Marcel began his professional sound engineering career in 1994 and has worked with people like Nena (99 red balloons), Uriah Heep (Lady in Black), Boney M (Daddy Cool, Rasputin) and many other international acts. He recently moved to Cambridge and is available as an experienced technician and sound engineer.
After having worked in live sound as a backliner , monitor sound and front sound engineer for many years , it was by sheer accident that Marcel discovered some similarities between sound engineering and piano voicing.
During the next 6 years he went to train at a special technical college in England at Steinway&Sons in Hamburg and had private tuition with various master technicians from England, Germany and Japan. During the day he now works as a service and concert technician here in Cambridge. Marcel’s specialities lie in piano tuning, voicing and regulating, which means he can change the sound and the feel of a piano.
In his free time Marcel likes to work on his own music or play out with one of his bands. He plays all kinds of keyboard instruments to a good standard and has been acting in various bands as a keyboarder/pianist, singer and producer.
All these experiences in music make him a good and versatile technician for your event. But Marcel Kunkel is by no means a jack of all trades. What brought him here is his love for music and his constant pursuit of excellence in everything he does.
