CUJO and Gareth Lockrane at Westroad

volksmusi.com supported the famous Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra at Westroad Concert Hall on 4th Feb. The CUJO was teamed up and lead by the London-based flautist Gareth Lockrane. We provided some of our d&b gear, including C6 and E18 cabs. Marcel used a Soundcraft 8000 series analogue desk to control the live sound for the auditorium.

Like all events we currently do at Westroad this was a collaboration between volksmusi and Matthew Dilley who next to his excellent knowledge in classical music production provided a wide range of specialised microphones and recording equipment.

Hello my friends of music and sound,

It’s mixing desks like this that keep the quest for a digital desk I like a constant challenge! It’s not that I don’t like the idea of having no side racks and a small mixer but I am sure anybody who has heard a good analogue desk will agree when I say it’s something special.

Do not make the mistake and compare this wonderful console with just any old analogue mixer because these mixers used to be the flagships sitting on the mixing desk throne before companies like DiGiCo even existed…and of course it offers everything that you could wish for on a mixing desk. These babies were used by lots of big artists on big stages and while lots of companies don’t stock them anymore we don’t even think of selling ours.

So if you want a truly warm front sound for your band that is not reproduced in some memory bank of a micro chip don’t imitate-recreate!

We were happy to support a concert by Steve Waterman and the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra at the famous West Road Concert Hall. We went to West Road with our setup of 4x d&b C6 tops and 4x d&b E18 subs. Here are some pictures we made during the load-in:

Yamaha 01V expansion module arrived
